Grand Rapids Chalk Flood at Rosa Parks Circle
Greetings friends and neighbors,
This year is an election year, so life will be getting a bit more busy these next few months as I am going to run for re-election. Soon you will see me walking door to door, Bliss signs popping up in our neighborhoods and a few changes to my website where individuals can get campaign information. You can also stay updated about the campaign by joining the Re-Elect Rosalynn Bliss group on facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=63522080259
Friends of Grand Rapids Parks was launched in April and there will be a City wide park clean up and beautification event on May 16th - starting at 9am at 16 parks throughout the City. I will be at Riverside Park all morning. Would love to see you come out and join us. April also was the launch of an initiative to make Grand Rapids a Bicycle Friendly City, with a successful Bike Summit that took place on April 24th.
The proposed 2009/2010 budget was presented to the Commission and we will begin discussing and reviewing the recommendations. Please contact me if you have thoughts, ideas or concerns that you would like to share.
Eric Delong continues to serve as the Interim City Manager until the next City Manager is chosen. The choice before us is likely one of the most important decisions I will make as a City Commissioner. As the search process continues, I (and the city commission) would like to hear from you. To provide an avenue for public input, a survey was posted on the home page of the City's website, which is www.grcity.us - you will also find a blog where you can participate in a community conversation about the search. I hope you will take a moment to go to the website and complete the survey as your thoughts are valuable to us. You can also share your thoughts with me by completing a survey through my website (just click on the survey button to the left).
As always, please feel free to contact me with questions, ideas, concerns or needs.
